What I’m Thinking About

Ideas from my doctoral research into maternal archetypes, literature, and contemporary motherhood.

My doctoral research explores the maternal figures that have shaped literature for generations: the self-sacrificing mother, the absent mother, the angry mother, the mother who transgresses expectations and the mother who wants something for herself.

I'm interested in how these figures continue to appear in contemporary writing, and how they influence the ways women understand and describe their own experiences.

I'll use this space to share reflections from my research, connections between books past and present, and the questions I'm still trying to answer.
