Your Story
Every experience of motherhood deserves space to be heard.
There is no single way to experience motherhood, and no single way to tell its stories.
Some stories are joyful. Others are complicated, painful, funny, ordinary, or difficult to put into words. Some are still unfolding. Some have never been spoken aloud.
At The Motherwhelm, I believe these stories matter. Not because they offer answers or fit neatly into familiar narratives, but because they remind us of the many different ways motherhood is lived, understood, and experienced.
Whether you'd like to join a conversation on the podcast or share your writing or art through the journal, I'd love to hear from you.

Share your experience on The Motherwhelm Podcast
The Motherwhelm Podcast brings together women to talk openly about the realities and complexities of motherhood.
From pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experiences to identity, relationships, loss, ambivalence, and everything in between, our conversations make room for stories that aren't always heard.
You don't need to have a public profile, professional expertise, or an extraordinary experience to be a guest.
You just need a story you're ready to tell.

The Motherwhelm Journal
The Motherwhelm Journal is an independent Australian literary journal dedicated to women's writing and art about motherhood.
We welcome creative nonfiction, memoir, fiction, poetry, photography and visual art that explore maternal experience in all its complexity.
We're particularly interested in work that challenges expectations, complicates familiar narratives and makes space for perspectives too often overlooked.
You don't need to have been published before. Emerging and unpublished writers and artists are warmly encouraged to submit.
